National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute
Students aged 15 - 20 are eligible to apply for the National Symphony Orchestra's Summer Music Institute. Approximately 70 students from across the country meet in Washington, D.C., for four weeks of private lessons, rehearsals, coaching by National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) members, classes, and lectures to prepare aspiring musicians for their futures in music.
The Summer Music Institute is coordinated by the National Symphony Orchestra Education Program, which is a component of the Kennedy Center Education Department.
The program is designed for serious music students. Each student accepted into the program attends on full scholarship, which includes round-trip air transportation to/from Washington, D.C., housing, food allowance, and local transportation during the Institute.
